Technical Characteristics: Braking
This form (Figure 29) contains the parameters related to the breaking characteristics of the Vehicle Type. The form contains the following parameters:
- “4.7.1 Maximum train deceleration”: the user can enter a single numeric value.
- “4.7.2 Service braking”
- a. “4.7.2.1 Brake performance on steep gradients with normal payload”
- “4.7.2.1.1 Reference case of TSI”: the user can select a value from the predefined list or remove a previously entered value by selecting the option “-Select-“. If a value is selected, then parameters 4.7.2.1.2 to 4.7.2.1.5 are disabled. If the value is removed, then the parameters are re-enabled.
- “4.7.2.1.2 Speed”: the user can enter a single numeric value.
- “4.7.2.1.3 Gradient”: the user can enter a single numeric value.
- “4.7.2.1.4 Distance”: the user can enter a single numeric value. If this parameter has a value, then parameter “4.7.2.1.5 Time” is disabled.
- “4.7.2.1.5 Time”: the user can enter a single numeric value. If this parameter has a value, then parameter “4.7.2.1.4 Distance” is disabled.
- “4.7.3 Parking brake”
- “4.7.3.1 All vehicles of this type must be equipped with a parking brake”: the user can select between values True & False.
- “4.7.3.2 Parking brake type”: the user can select a value from a predefined list. If value “None” is selected, then Parameter “4.7.3.3 Maximum gradient on which the unit is kept immobilized by the parking brake alone” is cleared and disabled. For any other value the parameter is enabled.
- “4.7.3.3 Maximum gradient on which the unit is kept immobilized by the parking brake alone”: the user can enter a numeric value.
- 4. “4.7.4 Braking systems fitted on the vehicle “
- “4.7.4.1 Eddy current brake”
- “4.7.4.1.1 Eddy current brake fitted”: the user can select between values True & False. If the value is set to False, then parameter “4.7.4.1.2 Possibility of preventing the use of the eddy current brake” is cleared and disabled.
- “4.7.4.1.2 “Possibility of preventing the use of the eddy current brake”: the user can select between values True & False.
- “4.7.4.2 Magnetic brake”
- “4.7.4.2.1 Magnetic brake fitted”: the user can select between values True & False. If the value is set to False, then parameter “4.7.4.2.2 Possibility of preventing the use of the magnetic brake” is cleared and disabled.
- “4.7.4.2.2 Possibility of preventing the use of the magnetic brake”. The user can select between values True & False.
- “4.7.4.3 Regenerative brake (only for vehicles with electrical traction)”
- “4.7.4.3.1 Regenerative brake fitted”: the user can select between True & False for each Energy Supply specified configuration. If the value False is selected, then parameter “4.7.4.3.2 Possibility of preventing the use of the regenerative brake” is cleared and disabled. This parameter is not available for the Energy Supply “Autonomous” or “None” (see 2.3.2.2.3).
- “4.7.4.3.2 Possibility of preventing the use of the regenerative brake”: the user can select between values True & False for each Energy supply dependent configuration. This parameter is not available for the Energy Supply “Autonomous” or “None” (see 2.3.2.2.3).
The user may fill in any of the provided technical characteristics or perform any of the actions that are described in Step 2 help page.
The next page in the technical characteristics process is the Geometrical Characteristics page.
