Registration Methods

There are four different registration methods for a new Vehicle Type. In summary these are:

New registration of new platform
New registration of registered platform
New version of registered type
New configuration/mode of a registered version

New registration of a new platform

This registration method allows a registration of a new Vehicle Type on a platform that has not been used before in the ERATV system. When selecting this option, the following alterations occur in the form of step 1:

The field “Platform” is enabled and populated with defined Platforms that have not been used in any other Vehicle Types in the ERATV system.
A plus ( ) button appears next to the platform selection control. This allows the user to enter a new platform.
The field “Registered Type” is disabled. If the field contains a value, this is removed.
On saving the Step 1 form, any pre-existing data in the subsequent steps are removed.

New registration of an existing platform

This registration method allows the user to register a new Vehicle Type on a platform that was previously used in another vehicle registration in the ERATV system. The following take place when this registration method is selected:

The field “Platform” is enabled and populated with defined Platforms that have been used in other Vehicle Types in the ERATV system.
The field “Registered Type” is disabled. If the field contains a value, then this is removed.
On saving the Step 1 form, any pre-existing data in the subsequent steps are removed.

New version of registered type

This registration method is used for registering a new version for a pre-existing Vehicle Type. The advantage of this registration method is that it reduces the time needed to fill-in the full registration form as it copies the data from another VT and the user only alters the parameters with different values that signify the new version. On selecting this registration method, the following take place in the step 1 form:

The field “Platform” is cleared (if it contains a value) and disabled.
The field “Registered Type” is enabled. The selection list is populated with Vehicle Types of any status that have a Type/Version ID number reserved.
On selection of a Vehicle Type, all fields are updated with the stored values in the corresponding fields of the selected Vehicle Type.
On saving the Step 1 form, any pre-existing data in the subsequent steps are removed and the data of the selected VT are copied into this VT.

New configuration/mode of registered version

This method allows the user to specify a new mode of a Vehicle Type from a previously registered version. On selecting this registration method, the following take place:

The field “Platform” is cleared (if it contains a value) and disabled.
The field “Registered Type” is enabled. The selection list is populated with Vehicle Types of any status but have a Type/Version ID number reserved.
When a Vehicle Type from the list of “Registered types” is selected, then all fields of Step 1 of the current record are updated with the stored values of the selected Vehicle Type.
On saving the Vehicle Type, the data from the next steps of the selected Vehicle Type are also copied into the current one.
